Day 238 August 6, 2002

I continued on the back part of the hearth. I mix up some mortar, set a few stones into it and wedge them up with scraps of wood so they don't slide down. It's coming along nicely. As the mortar cures, I tool in between the stones to give it a nice finished look.

In between batches of mortar, I took my ATV out in search of 2 nice shaped flat rocks for a mini-mantel. I just want a small flat surface to hold some matches and a small light for late night stove refueling. I found a couple of beauties.

I also did some odds and ends, I moved the plow closer to the bottom of the driveway, buried some stumps and bags of hardened cement, etc.
